OMC is an indie game, in terms of coding and everything else except graphics - I'm the only developer behind it. This is my first-ever game made with Godot, and within the past few weeks, I've learned a lot about this open-source engine. Very likely not enough, because there are plenty of things that could and must be improved. This will hopefully happen soon.
I also had some minor experience with Unity in the past, and now that I finally have basic knowledge to compare both, in my own personal opinion, Godot wins on everything possible when it comes to small and medium projects. Of course, if you plan to create the next ultra-big title, you should very likely go straight to Unity or Unreal. It's worth noting once again that all graphics used in the game are credited to their respective artists, who are also listed in the in-game [Credits] button. Without the help of these talented individuals, OMC wouldn't have been able to see the light of day.
Initially, the idea was to just create the simplest possible clicking game where you click on squares and get points based on this and that. You can see a very basic preview of that concept at the top of the front page. However, over time, as I learned a bit more, fresh ideas slowly crawled out. I tried to implement new features, and at some point, what started as a game where you just clicked on random blocks turned into something like a base skeleton of an RPG game. Now, there are two games in one. Since I have a lot of love for RPG games, I kept working in that direction. In general, the game is not as complicated as I want it to be due to the fact that I'm still a complete newbie, but I believe that with time, I'll be able to create and add more items and more sophisticated functionality to OMC. Please note that this is a super early access release, also in Alpha, so there's a lot to come.
